Laura Maureen Bertram was born 5 September 1978, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She has two younger sisters Heather and Jennifer.

Bertram brings a wealth of acting experience to Andromeda, including two prestigious Gemini Awards (the highest award that a Canadian TV actor can receive in Canada) as well as three nominations for the award. Her background includes a number of television credits including Dear America…So Far From Home by HBO, Ready or Not by Disney Channel, Seasons of Love by CBS, Third Eye by PAX-TV and Are You Afraid of the Dark by Nickelodeon. She has also appeared in a variety of made-for-television-movies including Night of the Twisters by Family Channel and Atlantis Films, Sins of Silence by Warner Brothers and Platinum by Shadow Shows and Label Platinum Inc.

Bertram's list of theater credits include the lead in Cinderella and Mario and the Magician with The Canadian Opera Company. Her training includes seven years study with the Canadian Children's Opera Chorus. She also has nine years of intensive ballet training.
